June 19, 2002 -- Econ Technologies ships ImageCaster™, a straightforward and easy to use webcam application built exclusively for Mac OS X. ImageCaster is designed around a simple tabbed interface with a full set of features for only $20. Econ makes it easy for anyone to broadcast images with a Mac, a video camera, and ImageCaster. Go to http://www.econtechnologies.com and see how simple it can be to get a webcam up and running.

ImageCaster combines numerous features into a simple to use interface. Select an image from virtually any source - Mac OS X camera drivers are automatically recognized so all available cameras automatically appear for selection. Format the image for upload, schedule it, and choose the destination. ImageCaster stores webcam settings in documents so you can set up an unlimited number of webcams and upload destinations. Multiple video images can be broadcast simultaneously, opening the door to applications such as security and surveillance.

Beyond just the basics, ImageCaster provides numerous advanced features found only in higher end applications. The source image, which can come from a video source or an image file on the hard disk, can be resized, scaled or rotated. Text and graphic objects can be overlaid on top of the image, including automatic date and time stamps. Webcam images can be delivered in all QuickTime compatible file formats including JPEG and PNG. Full control over scheduling and delivery intervals is provided, offering tremendous flexibility. Images can be delivered to FTP servers as well as file servers (including WebDAV) and the local hard drive.

ImageCaster offers unparalleled AppleScript functionality so even the most complex broadcasting needs can be accomplished via scripting. It is built upon a modular, component based architecture allowing for easy, future expansion of capabilities through the installation of plug ins. It also has a relatively small footprint, allowing it to be run on a machine which is used daily for other tasks - the low CPU burden will leave users unaware it is even running

“ImageCaster is so easy to work with but at the same time does not sacrifice functionality. With ImageCaster you can do so much more than just broadcast an image. The extensive set of controls let you resize, scale, rotate, format, add graphics, add text, and schedule before you upload an image” said D. Proni, President of Econ Technologies. Joseph Japes, Director of Marketing and Quality Assurance says, “Webcams have become quite popular, especially with so many users having access to broadband connections like DSL. ImageCaster not only gives OS X users another webcam application, it gives them a full featured, high quality application.”
