Using the Scheduler Window as a Document Manager
ChronoSync excels at being able to schedule many different synchronizations to occur at all hours of the day. However, you may find yourself one of the many users who choose not to tap the scheduling capabilities of the program. Instead, you may prefer to manually execute synchronizations, perhaps to utilize the Trial Synchronize function and/or to make sure any conflicts, warnings or errors are handled correctly. Whatever the reason may be, if manual execution is preferred, you can still make use of the Scheduler Window to collect and organize commonly used synchronizer documents. |
| Step 1. Create and configure your synchronizer document. If you already have a working synchronizer document, just go ahead and open it. Step 2. Make sure your synchronizer document has been saved with a meaningful name. You should generally place all your synchronizer documents in the same folder that can be easily located. We recommend creating a folder named "Sync Documents" located in your ~/Library folder. Step 3. Invoke the "Add to Schedule..." function. This is available in the sync. documents' toolbar (by default) or from the "Actions" menu. You can also simply press COMMAND + on the keyboard. |

Next, click the "Active" check box so that it is unchecked. This indicates that the "scheduled" document will not be active. Don't worry about all the other controls in this dialog - since you're not actually scheduling, they can be ignored. Click "OK" Step 5. You'll notice that the "Scheduled Documents" floating window now appears and it contains the entry you just created. You'll also notice its check box is not marked, so the document will never be executed by the scheduler. At this point, you can select the entry you created by clicking it. Notice the following icons become enabled at the top of the window:
Clicking the "Execute" icon will perform a synchronization on the selected document. You probably don't want to do this because it does not open the document in its own window and thus you can't interact with conflict, warning and/or error messages.

Secret Menubar Shortcut: For a really quick way to run a Sync Document without opening it, use the ChronoSync menu in the menubar. Check "Show ChronoSync menu in menubar" in the General Preferences window to activate the menubar menu. Once activated, you will see
That's it! You can add as many documents you'd like to the Scheduled Documents window. Entries in the window can be re-arranged by simply drag and dropping them in the desired position. The window can be resized as tall as you'd like. Lastly, ChronoSync remembers whether or not the window was open the last time you used the program so it will automatically appear every time you launch ChronoSync (unless you explicitly close it). Now, all your sync documents are just a single mouse-click away! |
