| If you are using .Mac Sync to synchronize data between two Macs, you should NOT use ChronoSync to synchronize that same data. Synchronizing using both utilities could lead to possible deletions and duplications. However, it is OK to use ChronoSync to backup any data that you are NOT synchronizing between two Macs using .Mac Sync; ChronoSync is simply copying data to another Target and will not interfere with what .Mac Sync is synchronizing.
You can stop ChronoSync from synchronizing any data that is included in the Target by Excluding it. To exclude a file or a folder with all its contents, highlight the particular file or folder in the Analyze view and choose "Exclude" from the Actions menu. An exclusion is denoted by an "X" in the status column and means that the file or folder will be skipped during the synchronization process.
.Mac Sync can synchronize Bookmarks, iCal, Contacts, Keychains, and Mail settings. Exclude the folders listed below if you are synching any of the same data using .Mac Sync.
- Bookmarks - Exclude the "Safari" folder located under Home/Library.
- iCal - Under PANTHER, exclude the "Calendars" folder located under Home/Library. Under TIGER, exclude the "iCal" folder located under Home/Library/Application Support.
- Contacts - Exclude the "AddressBook" folder located under Home/Library/Application Support.
- Keychains - Exclude the "Keychains" folder located under Home/Library.
- Mail settings - Exclude the "Mail" folder located under Home/Library.
NOTE: You can not sync email messages using .Mac Sync but you can using ChronoSync. If you want to use ChronoSync to sync your email messages, then you can not use .Mac Sync to synchronize your Mail settings. Therefore, do not include it as part of your .Mac Sync choices. Fortunately, ChronoSync will sync all your Mail settings and email messages. Click here to find out how.
