Here are the most frequently asked questions about ChronoSync:


I have ChronoSync set up to Synchronize Deletions but they aren't deleting in the destination target. What is going on?

The major point to remember is that when you create a new sync document, either backup or bi-directional, no files will be deleted the first time you run the sync. You need to sync/save, then make changes to the file system, then sync again to see deletions.

Basically, ChronoSync has to know about a file before it'll know it has been deleted when using Backup or Bi-directional.


My scheduled syncs are not running as scheduled. Will I have to run syncs manually for it to work?

No. Launch ChronoSync and review your scheduled documents by opening the Scheduled Documents Manager Window from the Window Menu. The items in the list are all the sync documents you've already scheduled.

If you just click the 'Schedule' button in the Toolbar, you setup a new schedule, rather than editing an existing schedule. This allows you to schedule a sync document in multiple different ways.

Using the Scheduled Documents Manager, you can double-click an item in the list and review the existing schedule and edit the settings.

Too make sure your scheduled documents run correctly, check the ChronoSync Preferences and make sure the following three items are checked:

- Use Background Scheduler
- Wake System to Synchronize
- Show ChronoSync Menu in Menubar


I want to sync iPhoto between my two computers. How do I do this?

The "Start" button on the ChronoAgent panel is greyed out and not working. Also the other fields are greyed out and unusable. What's going on?

Click the "padlock" icon in the lower left window and then enter all the information in the fields. Once all your info is entered you can activate ChronoAgent.


I installed ChronoAgent but can't find the application.

ChronoAgent is an invisible utility that runs in the background. You control it via the System Preferences window. Furthermore, you need to set up ChronoSync to communicate with any ChronoAgents via the "Connections" panel of ChronoSync Preferences.


I'm confused. How do I get ChronoSync to "see" ChronoAgent?

If trying to register ChronoSync version 4.0, you must also fill out the "User Name" and "E-mail" fields to complete registration.


I've misplaced my license key. How can I get a copy of it?

I would like to make some custom templates but I'm not sure how to do this.

To make custome templates, you must have the Pro Edition. Portraits & Prints Pro Edition allows you to create, edit, and save custom templates. You can design your own templates so that you may have any printing layout you would like. The possibilities are limitless!

Once you have the Pro Edition installed, open the Template Manager and under the Installed panel, click on the "gear" icon and select New. After defining your new template settings and choosing OK, a new Template document will open for you to begin your creation!


The "Text" icon in the Layout panel is grayed out. Nothing seems to activate it. What's going on?

The "Text" toolbar icon will only highlight if you have editable text fields placed on your template. Take a look at our editable text tip.


I would like a trial version of Portraits & Prints so that I can test it before buying it. How do I go about getting this?

I just purchased an upgrade key for the Pro edition but when I put it in the registration panel, the "Register" button is grayed out. Why isn't this working?

Can you add contacts in DayChaser?

You can only add contacts to a calendar entry. For example, if you were having lunch with Bob, you would add that entry and you could put Bob's contact info within the entry.

Every time I open Day Chaser, it opens with a new, blank monthly file. How do I get this to stop?

If you don't want a blank document to open every time, uncheck "Create new document on activate" in the General Preferences panel.

I've created a Calendar Document and would like for it to open every time I launch DayChaser. Can this be done?

Yes. Go to DayChaser's Preferences and then select the "Startup Items" panel. Here you can add the documents that open each time DayChaser starts.

Is it possible to change the font size of the entries?

It is not possible to change the font size. Your best best would be to choose a font that tends to be a little on the larger side.  For example, "Myriad Pro" or "Times" seems larger than something like "Times New Roman".

Can I use DayChaser to sync to my Palm or Entourage?

No. DayChaser does not allow for this.

A window popped up telling me that there are items in the database which have expired and it's asking if I want them deleted now. How can I find out what the items are before I delete them?

Go into your Preferences panel and click on the Entries tab. In the behavior section, you'll see a setting that says "Entries expire after ____ days" and "Warn before removing".  If you leave the default setting of 30 days, you know that entries over 30 days ago are set to expire.

ImageCaster no longer uploads my webcam files. The log states "FTP Quote Command Error". What can I do?

We've done some intensive testing and found that under certain conditions we can get the upload to fail.  This only occurs on Leopard and only if there is no previous version of the file on the ftp server. If the file already exists on the ftp server, then the uploads would work fine.

After some investigation we found that the curl library in Leopard does behave a little differently and was terminating the connection when certain, non-fatal errors occurred.  This resulted in the failure of any additional commands, due to the connection environment being changed.  We believe we have fixed the problem we were encountering.  However, it may or may not fix what you are encountering.
