What are templates?
A template is a pre-formatted basic design layout used in a Portraits & Prints catalog. Templates define how photos in your catalog will appear after they are printed. They allow you to print photos at various sizes and arrangements.
Templates can also place text, geometric shapes and graphics on or around your photos. You can add that personal touch for greeting cards, postcards, or anything your imagination can create..

How do I get digital images onto my computer?
Just plug in your digital camera to the USB port or insert your Picture CD. The Image Capture application will automatically launch, presenting you with several options. One option is to automatically load the photos in a Portraits & Prints catalog. You can also retrieve photos from regular CDs, E-mail, Web Sites or a Scanner.

What types of file formats can I use?
Portraits & Prints recognizes all digital image file formats supported by QuickTime, including PICT, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PDF and PSD files, just to name a few.

What printers work with Portraits & Prints?
Any printer supported by Mac OS X. Mac OS X supports popular printers from Canon, Epson and Hewlett-Packard. Other printer manufacturers such as Brother and Lexmark also produce Mac OS X compatible products. If you are not sure, download the demo and try it out.

What kind of paper should I use?
Two types of photo-quality paper work well when printing your enhanced images: glossy and matte. Glossy works best with photos. Matte works best with newsletters and documents containing photos. Look for 90 brightness or better. Some brands to look for are: Epson, Great White, Hewlett-Packard and Kodak. Even office supply stores have their own brands.
