An ImageCaster document is divided into Panels. Each Panel is a step in setting up your webcam. Keep in mind you set up an multiple ImageCaster documents for multiple image sources. All settings are saved to individual documents so you can create multiple documents with different options. If you need more information about any features or functions of ImageCaster please read the manual that came with the download.

THE SOURCE PANEL

The Source Panel is where you select the source of your image. In most cases it will be a camera, but it could be an image from a folder, an image from a webpage, or almost anything. Webcams or any camera requires a driver to deliver the image. In most cases if you are using a USB or Firewire camera the drivers installed in the OS will work. But for some cameras you may need to install a driver. If you are using your built in camera it will automatically show up in the pop up menu next to "Digitizer".

THE OVERLAY PANEL

The Overlay Panel is where you can edit your image. You can add text and graphics directly within ImageCaster; no other applications are needed. Custom text messages as well as date and time stamps can be placed anywhere on your canvas or image. Full control over font, size, color, opacity (transparency), alignment and drop shadow is provided. Also, virtually any kind of graphic can be placed on the canvas. Graphics can be scaled in size and their transparency can be altered so you can place them directly over your image. Sensor zones can be added to your images to provide motion detection so you only capture images when there is activity. Everything is done directly in ImageCaster and saved in the document.

THE FORMAT PANEL

The Format Panel is where you can choose the format of your image. You have two options, you can simply upload and replace a single image or save a series of images to create QuickTime movies or a time-lapse gallery. You can not upload streaming video. If you are looking for a webcam application that uploads live video. Do a search at macupdate.com or apple.com/downloads.

You can even add your own graphics and links to other pages. All you need to do is provide the webspace to broadcast your page. If you have an internet connection you more than likely have free webspace provided by your provider or if you are a Mobile Me member you can host your webpage there. Read our Tips section for more information and download ImageCaster to see how easy it is.

Schedule it and forget about it. ImageCaster does all the work automatically.
