If you are a Leopard user with your Application Firewall enabled, and are upgrading ChronoSync or ChronoAgent from a previous version, you may need to perform the following upgrade instructions to ensure the proper execution of ChronoAgent or ChronoSync. If you do not have the Application Firewall enabled or are not using Leopard, these instructions do not apply.
Step 1.
Open System Preferences.
Step 2.
Click on "Security".
Step 3.
Click on "Firewall".
Step 4.
If "Set access for specific services and applications" is chosen AND either ChronoAgentRemote or ChronoSync are in the list, you should remove both ChronoAgentRemote and ChronoSync from the list by selecting them and clicking the "-" button.
If "Allow all incoming connections" is selected, the rest of the tip doesn't apply. This is equivalent to not using the Application Firewall.
Step 5.
Proceed to install ChronoAgent and/or ChronoSync.
If installing ChronoAgent on top of a previously configured version, at some point during the install, a dialog should appear asking whether or not inbound connections should be allowed for ChronoAgentRemote. You should click "Allow". After this, all should be well. If this is a first time install, you will not see this dialog until after you have configured the agent and have started it. You should still click "Allow" in that situation.
If installing ChronoSync, the dialog asking whether or not inbound connections should be allowed will only appear when opening a Synchronizer document that tries to mount a file server. If you have such Synchronizer documents, you should first make sure that the server being mounted is NOT currently mounted. Then you should launch ChronoSync, locate one of the documents and open it. If the incoming connection dialog appears, you should "Allow" it. Note: it is very likely that there will be a long pause after "Allowing" incoming connections, after which the Synchronizer document will open and indicate it could not mount the server. If this happens, you should quit ChronoSync, re-launch it and open the document. All should be well thereafter.
